The “Effective Communication with Children, Youth and Parents Training”, implemented under the Vocational Education and Training Programme for Employment (VET4JOB-II), funded by the European Union and carried out in cooperation with the MoNE DG VET and TESK, led by Expertise France was successfully completed in Mersin on 18–19 June 2026.
The two-day training brought together general culture teachers working in Vocational Education Centers within the programme scope.
The opening speeches addressed by Halil İbrahim Ulaş, Head of the Vocational and Technical Education Department of the Mersin Provincial Directorate of National Education, and Dr. Balkır Özünlü, Programme Coordinator of VET4JOB-II at the MoNE DG VET. During the opening remarks, the objective, scope, and expected outcomes of the programme were shared with participants, and a common learning ground was established by gathering teachers’ expectations.
On the first day, the training focused on the core elements of effective communication, the relationship between communication and conflict, and the use of communication skills in conflict situations. Through interactive activities and case studies, teachers had the opportunity to analyse different communication scenarios they may encounter in school environments.
On the second day, simulation exercises and group work focused on understanding and mapping existing monitoring and referral mechanisms. Participants analysed communication gaps, conflict, and risk situations through different scenarios and practiced appropriate communication approaches in applied settings.
The training was designed to strengthen communication between teachers, students, young people, and parents, and concluded with a final evaluation session.
